Autumn Wedding at Walton Hall – Hayley and Stephen
Walton Hall Gardens
Hazel and Stephen’s wedding here was the perfect example of how relaxed, joyful and photogenic this venue can be.
Hayley and Stephen’s wedding at Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington had everything you’d hope for as a photographer relaxed vibes, gorgeous grounds, beautiful weather (yes in November) and two people who just completely enjoyed every minute together. I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings across the North West, and Walton Hall is always one of those places that delivers something special. This wedding was no exception.
The beautifully kept gardens at Walton Hall were the perfect backdrop for Hayley and Stephen’s portraits. The ceremony space had a lovely warmth to it, with the gardens and historic hall creating a really romantic setting. Inside Walton Hall, the décor and character of the building added a timeless feel to their photos, giving us plenty of opportunities for natural, relaxed shots throughout the day.
The morning was all about excitement. Both Hayley and Stepen were getting ready at seperate locations to the venue, surrounded by family and friends who kept the mood lovely and light. I focused on the genuine moments, bridal details the finishing touches, the reactions, and the nerves that quickly turned into smiles.
With two photographers covering the day, Stuart my second photographer headed over to where Stephen was getting ready to capture the groom prep and portraits. It meant we could cover both sides of the morning properly, giving Hayley and Stephen a complete story of those early moments before the ceremony even began.
Indoor Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony took place indoors, which worked perfectly on what turned out to be a bright, sunny November day. The room had a warm, intimate feel, with beautiful light streaming in and creating a lovely atmosphere for Hayley and Stephen to exchange vows. It gave us ample opportunities to capture those real, emotional moments as they happened.

Documentary Wedding Photography
I kept things simple stepping back and letting the moments unfold. From the glances between them to the reactions from family and friends, the whole ceremony felt full of warmth. The light in the gardens was perfect too, which always helps give the images that soft, romantic feel. We also had the added bonus of having the alpaca’s to capture some lovely photos with the bride and groom.
Endless Photo Locations
From the manicured lawns to the tree-lined paths and the beautiful historic architecture, Walton Hall Gardens gives you no shortage of creative spots for portraits. Everywhere you look, there’s another backdrop perfect for relaxed, natural photos.

Beautiful All Year Round
One of the biggest strengths of Walton Hall Gardens is how well it photographs in every season. Spring brings blossom and fresh colours, summer offers deep greens and bright light, autumn is full of warm tones, and even winter has that crisp, flattering light that works wonderfully for portraits.

The Historic Hall Adds Character
Walton Hall itself adds a timeless charm to your wedding photos. With its traditional features and elegant exterior, it creates a warm, classic feel — perfect for both candid moments and more formal portraits if you’d like them.

Perfect for Natural, Relaxed Photography
The venue’s open space allows couples to wander, chat, and take a breather from the busy day. This aligns with my photography style, which focuses on natural moments rather than stiff posing. You get photos that feel real, not staged.
Gorgeous Light Throughout the Day
The gardens offer a great mix of open light and shaded areas, giving you soft, flattering light from morning through to evening. It’s one of the reasons the portraits always look so good here — the surroundings do a lot of the work for you.
Great Indoor Options Too
If the weather changes, Walton Hall still has you covered. The interior spaces have lovely character and soft light, so we can carry on shooting indoors without any stress or compromise. It means you get beautiful images whatever the forecast decides to do.

Walton Hall Gardens Wedding Photography – FAQ
Are there good photo locations around the gardens?
Definitely. There are endless options — open lawns, pathways, the hall, shaded areas and colourful garden sections. Every corner offers something different.
What happens if it rains?
Walton Hall has plenty of indoor spots with great character and soft light, so you still get beautiful photos without worrying about the weather. We can also get some fantastic shots in the rain if you are willing to come out to play. We have plenty of umbrellas available to keep you as dry as possible.
Can we have our group photos in the gardens?
Absolutely. There’s loads of space, and the gardens make a lovely backdrop for family photos. It is your wedding and as long as the venue allows we are happy to take the pictures in whichever location you prefer. I also have a drone which is great for photographs of the venue and also group photos.
Do you include a second photographer?
Yes, all our full day packages include two photographers. One which will be me and either Scott or Stuart who I have photographed with for over ten years.
How long do portraits take?
Normally portraits take around 20 to 30 minutes. We then like to take the couple out at night to get a champagne or umberella shot which takes about 5 minutes. This is totally up to the couple if they want to do this. Most of our photographs taken on the day will be totally natural allowing you to spend to time with family and friends.
