Thornton Hall Wedding Day
Thornton Hall is a renowned wedding venue on the Wirral known for its elegant surroundings, lush gardens, and timeless beauty. Situated just a short drive from Liverpool, the venue combines modern luxury with the charm of a traditional country house. From the moment I arrived, I could see why this venue is so popular for couples looking for an idyllic place to say “I do.”
The large, manicured gardens provided an incredible backdrop for Sophie and Glenn’s portraits, while the grand yet intimate ceremony space gave a sense of warmth and love, even on the chilly January day. Thornton Hall’s interior is equally impressive, with tasteful décor that enhances the venue’s character and makes it the perfect setting for timeless wedding photographs.
The Wedding Day
Sophie and Glenn’s wedding day was particularly special. They had been together for several years, and their love for each other was evident in every glance, every smile, and every word exchanged throughout the day. Their connection was obvious throughout the day, from their first look to the emotional vows they exchanged during the ceremony. As a photographer, these moments are some of the most rewarding to capture.
Sophie looked absolutely stunning in her classic yet modern wedding dress, which made for the most elegant shots. Bridal Prep was photographed at Sophie’s home address and the service was held at Our Lady’s Church, Birkenhed before moving on to Thornton Hall Hotel for the wedding Reception. Glenn, in his sharp suit, was full of joy and couldn’t hide his smile when he saw his bride for the first time. These spontaneous, genuine emotions were a photographer’s dream, and I was thrilled to document these beautiful moments.

The weather on the day was not the best; with constant rain and strong winds, taking pictures outdoors was impossible. However, we did have our plan B in mind and took all of the group photos at Our Lady’s Church. When we arrived at Thornton Hall, we took a confetti shot inside the hotel (thank you to the staff at Thornton Hall for allowing us to do this) and then took some lovely, quiet-time photos of the happy couple around the hotel.
